La première et dernière fois où Voivod a joué en tant que band de bar ! Le frère de Jean-Yves, Yvan, propose au groupe de jouer dans le bar appartenant à l’un de ses collègues de travail du Canadien National (CN, une compagnie de voies ferrées). Le propriétaire offre au groupe de jouer quatre soirées consécutives, soit du jeudi au dimanche. Jean-Yves discute de l’offre avec le gérant Maurice « Rocker » Richard et le groupe. Le lendemain, Maurice précise l’offre : les spectacles auraient lieu au Bar Rock Rive-Sud de St-Romuald entre le 1er et le 4 mai 1986. À l’époque, les bands de bars jouent trois sets de 45 minutes par soir. Nous nous consultons et nous entendons pour faire deux sets d’une heure avec intermission. Il nous faut donc monter un spectacle de deux heures. L’essentiel du show sera formé de pièces de nos deux premiers albums (War and Pain et Rrröööaaarrr) et de Killing Technology que nous venons tout juste de compléter. Denis D’amour et Michel Langevin improviseront chacun un solo. Le groupe est à son paroxysme; nous pratiquons et composons à chaque jour. Quelques semaines plus tard, nous amorçons notre première tournée au Canada et aux États-Unis. C’est toute cette fougue et cette énergie qui transparaissent dans ce double live.

The first and last time Voivod did play as a bar band! In 1986, Jean-Yves’s brother Yvan proposes the band to play a series of shows in a bar owned by his fellow co-worker at the railway company Canadian National (CN). The bar owner offers them to play four nights in a row, from Thursday to Sunday. Jean-Yves tells the band’s manager Maurice “Rocker” Richard who came up the next day with more information: the shows will take place at Bar Rock Rive-Sud at St-Romuald (Quebec) from May 1st to May 4th. Usually at that time, bands in bars play 3 sets of 45 minutes each. After discussing among us, we decide to play 2 sets of 1 hour with an intermission. We consequently have to prepare a full 2 hours of live music. The show will include songs from our first two albums (War and Pain and Rrröööaaarrr) and from our forth coming Killing Technology album. Denis D’amour and Michel Langevin will improvise a solo each. The group is then at a climax from rehearsing and composing every single day. A couple of weeks later, the band will start its first Canadian and American tour. All this energy and spirit can be heard in this double live album.
